Thank you August, I Love You!

Wow! What a great month it has been! August has never had much significance in my life and I sure am surprised at how well this month has treated me..

For the first time in years I finally feel like everything in my life is coming together. My future is looking brighter than ever and although I’m quite exhausted, I’m extremely excited to see what my future holds.

I’m so grateful for all the positive changes that August has brought about and I can’t wait to see what September holds! Here is a breakdown of my August..

My Blog

I’m so taken aback by how fast my blog and following has grown. Upon starting this blog, I never thought anyone would ever be interested in reading my posts. Blogging has made me so happy since day 1 and it has become a crucial part of my life. Most people wouldn’t understand how writing content for a few readers could bring about so much happiness. I’ve always enjoyed reading and writing but never knew how to incorporate it into my life. Only two months into blogging and I’m happy to share with you my goals and achievements for August 2018!

I've doubled most of my totals from my goals this month!
I’ve doubled most of my totals from my goals this month and I’m so incredibly grateful!

I’ve decided to do Blogtober and Blogmas and have already scheduled all my posts for those months. I’m very excited to be part of these blogging challenges and can’t wait to start creating the content!

I started a new blog post series, Sunday Sanity. This will be written and published every Sunday on a weekly basis. The idea of this is to lighten up my Sundays a little bit and give me something creative to look forward to when the Sunday Blues start kicking in.

I’ve also reached over 11K views on my blog this month, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that so many people actually read my stuff.. pretty cool isn’t it?!

My Job

So I’ve not been the happiest person at work lately. You know, maximum effort for minimum wage. Every morning has been a struggle to get up and go to work, but finally my future is looking bright.

We launched our online store, Mesemb Seeds Shop, on 5 August 2018. Although we were quite disappointed when we had no sales in the first week, visits and sales on our online store has skyrocketed in the past two weeks. I really didn’t think it would go this well, and I am so thankful! Hopefully I’ll be able to quit my job soon in the future and be more hands on with our online store and family life.

Until such time, I just have to keep pushing and remind myself that I will not be in this job for much longer. Blogging, eCommerce and day job has definitely taken it’s toll on my sleep cycles but I am so thankful and motivated for what’s to come!!

Personal Life

My personal life has been a bit chaotic this month, due to juggling between the blog, eCommerce and my job.

A few highlights of my personal life this month:

  • Saw some of my old friends this month
  • Saw Tapdogs at Grandwest Arena, Cape Town
  • Went for lunch at a wine farm, Bellevue Wine Estate
  • Went to see The Meg in cinemas
  • Got a new laptop
  • Got a desk and rose gold lamp to work from
  • Got 94% for the audit at my dayjob
  • Spent a weekend on the farm playing board games with my girlfriend and her family.

My goals for September

Here are my goals for September! Let me know what yours is and I’ll see what I can do to help!

Congratulations on overachieving your blogging goals! I like the idea of writing those down and comparing them with your statistics at the end of the month, and I absolutely love how you’ve chosen to focus on the highlights of your personal life! Well done on having such a positive mindset, sometimes it can be hard to see the bright side of things but I believe you are doing a really good job at it 🙂 Keep it up, I can’t wait to see your September achievements!
