What a weekend! I am so behind with my blogging and everything else in my life, but hey, what’s new! I honestly don’t know where people find the time to have a job, blog, read, spend time with their loved ones and get time to sleep. I’ve been struggling to juggle all my balls, but I’m here and I’m writing – that’s all that matters.
It’s been a really busy week and I haven’t had much time to work on my blog as much as I’ve wanted to. I’ve been very busy with preparation for Blogtober behind the scenes, and I’m super excited!
This is the last Sunday Sanity for September 2018, so it will be a longer one than usual. I usually do a separate post for my blogging goals and achievements of the month, but due to time
Let’s get to it!
Favourite Blogger of The Week
I don’t use Facebook that much for blogging purposes, but I have joined a few Blogging Support Groups on there. I find that there are so many rules to follow in the threads on Facebook, that by the time I’m done reading all the rules, I don’t have time to actually engage and show interest in other bloggers’ work.
This week I’ve become connected with a blogger through Facebook, who visited my blog and liked my content. She sent me the link to her blog for me to check it out, and I did so immediately.
Her blog is called Gold Millennial. There are quite a few people involved in this amazing blog. Stacy (CEO and founder), Angela (CMO) and Mia (CTO).
From the moment I’ve discovered this blog, I was hooked. I’m almost done reading all their posts and I would really recommend their content for any ‘older’ millennial!
They’ve also announced that they’ll be launching The Gold Millennial Book Club on October 1st. Each month they will read a different book and discuss it at the end of the month via a Facebook Live Stream. Be sure to check this out if you love reading!
Be sure to check out this amazing blog, you’ll definitely find a post you can relate to if you’re an older millennial!
What I’ve Learned This Week
So I’ve basically learned a few random things this week, nothing major.
I’ve learned that it’s actually quite easy to link a You Tube video to a blog post. WordPress embeds the link automatically, so all you have to do is cut and paste the link to your blog post! Easy peazy!
I started on a new diet this week and was wondering about the difference between Still – and Sparkling water when it comes to weight loss. I started reading up on it a bit and read that they’ve actually done a study on rats. Long story short, carbonated drinks stimulate your ‘hunger hormone’ called ghrelin. Ghrelin is the hormone that tells you you’re hungry – therefore if it’s being stimulated by carbonated drinks, you’re more prone to eating when you’re not really hungry – which leads to weight gain.
What Has Made Me Happy This Week
I’ve had a great week filled with things that have made me excited!
I’ve been really productive, preparing for Blogtober. I’ve finished and scheduled enough posts until mid-October already, so I’m on track and excited to start publishing tomorrow!
Also, we’re going to watch Ed Sheeran live next year in Johannesburg, and we made our hotel booking! I’ve never stayed in a hotel before so I’m super duper excited. We’ve booked our stay at Protea Hotel Fire & Ice Menlyn, Pretoria. The pictures are so beautiful, I cannot wait to experience it for myself!
We’ve also made some progress with arrangements for a trip we’ll be taking with my girlfriend’s family in December. I’m so grateful to be a part of a wonderful family like theirs and I can’t wait to go on a road trip with them all! Her brother and his girlfriend will be visiting from London and I’ll get to meet him too for the first time.
Today we went to a food market in Elgin, and I had my cheat meal! More importantly, I got to drink amazing gin cocktails which and it was so worth it!
Weekly Blog Update
This week I published two new blog posts, you can find them by
I’ve made great progress in preparation for Blogtober 2018 and I’m so excited to be part of this great initiative! I’ve only been blogging for about 3 months and I still have a LOT to learn, but I’m really impressed with how far I’ve come in such little time!
Let’s take a look at my September Goals
I was quite disappointed to realise that I haven’t reached my goals this month. I do, however, realise that they are just numbers and that it has nothing to do with WHY I write. I might have set some goals that were too out of reach, but I’ll just try again next month!
For the month of October, I’ve decided to focus more on Pinterest strategies. If anyone knows of a cool course or eBook, please let me know in the comments! I’ve heard that Pinterest can create a lot of traffic so I’d love to learn more about it
Here are my goals for October! I’ve made them smaller so
Favourite Poetry of The Week
I’m a big fan of Rupi Kaur. Milk and Honey was the first book my girlfriend has ever bought me and it has an incredibly special place in my heart. I still remember a time in my life where I was with someone who showed so little interest, she wasn’t even aware of the fact that I loved reading and writing poetry. How wonderful it was when I finally met someone who could appreciate these things with me, allow me to be myself and support me in all my pursuits.
Sometimes I find myself in a situation where old reactions are triggered. And then I realise there’s no need. She would never do anything to disrespect or hurt me – that’s why I’ve decided to share this poem from Rupi Kaur – the sun and her flowers.
Favourite Pins of The Week
I’ve decided to share the last few pins I’ve saved instead of going with a theme like I usually do. Here are my last saved favourite pins of the week!
Thank you for reading my last Sunday Sanity post of September 2018. May October 2018 be a wonderful month full of new opportunities for each one of my readers. I wish for you to be productive and inspired this month! Good luck with the week ahead!
