Sunday Sanity – 5.0

Oh man, this weekend has gone by way too fast! Why is it that as soon as we start enjoying the weekend, it has to end?

Today has been quite challenging for me and let me tell you.. the Sunday Blues has shown up again. Hence, I turned on my laptop to write yet another article on my Sunday Sanity series. It somehow helps me to focus on other things that has made me happy. It helps me to reflect on the past week and it’s happenings, which leaves less time for Sunday Blues.

A little break down of my Sunday… I overslept and had to rush to pick my daughter up from her friends house, where she slept over last night. As soon as I got home, I wanted to start helping her with an oral that’s due for tomorrow. Only to find out that she forgot her homework book at school and that we have no idea what it is she needs to do. After a few phone calls, we’ve managed to get a photo of the letter from someone and at least now she’s prepared for tomorrow.  Needless to say, I wasn’t a very happy mommy.

I got a call from my grandmothers’ friend, who informed me of my grandma’s poor health. About two months ago she was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, which causes inadequite function of her kidneys. I have to take her back to the Dr. tomorrow because of her deteriorated condition – so at least I managed to get the day off.

It’s Sunday afternoon now, and the anxiousness for the week to come and preparations thereof are slowly giving me a headache. It’s so easy for us to become negative on a Sunday and focus on all the bad aspects of our lives. How blessed am I to have a blog to turn to and write about the positive changes and happenings of the past week!

Here is my latest Sunday Sanity 5.0:

Favorite Blogger of The Week

So this is a new follower I gained during the course of this week and I was quite impressed to see that she’s a psychologist. I love psychology blogs and absolutely had to go and check it out. Her name is Dr. Linda L Moore and she is a Psychologist, Author, Speaker and Blogger.

Upon checking out her blog, I came across the most helpful articles I’ve read in a while. I wasn’t expecting anything less, as surely she knows what she’s talking about. What I liked about her blog though, is that her topics are relatable. She writes about things we all go through and experience. Her writing style is easy to read and I absolutely loved reading her articles.

My favorite articles on her blog so far are:

What do you do with your grocery store cart when you’re finished with it?

The myth of the limitless self!

A Self Esteem check up

Do yourself a favor and visit her website!

What I’ve learned this week

As stupid as this might sound, I’ve learned how to do a screen print on my computer, lol! I’ve always known this is possible – because there is a button for it – but I never knew how to get it and save it! If there’s anyone out there who doesn’t know this, follow these steps:

  • Press the Prt Sc button on your keyboard. In some cases, you’ll have to press Fn + Prt Scrn.
  • Open Paint and Click on the paste button
  • Crop the image to your needs
  • Save as Jpeg or PNG.
  • Voila!

I learned about the term “Paternal racism” from my partners sister. I actually never knew this. It’s a form of racism – consciously or subconsciously – in which we take pity on a person of another race, because we feel they are ‘below’ us in certain aspects. For example, you’ll be extra nice to the car guard and try to speak slower so he’ll understand. What if he earns more money than you and is a highly educated person who lost his job? I’m not going to go into the whole racism thing now, as it’s Sunday and that topic just adds to my tendency to feel depressed. I just thought it was cool as it’s something I’ve never actually heard of – or thought of.

What’s made me happy this week?

I got my first payout from our online store this week, which has made me really happy. It just reminded me that I’m coming closer and closer to quitting the rat-race and working for myself.

I decided to save some of the money to hopefully buy myself a car soon – and I took my daughter shopping for some new clothes on Saturday. She’s entering her pre-teen years now, so I wanted to have her choose her own clothes for the first time. I was a bit worried about what her choices will be, but I was quite impressed with the clothes she ended up taking. I really enjoyed having the means and opportunity to take her shopping and it made me so happy!

We also received some good news, that our first orders have actually reached their destinations. I was a bit weary of this whole international mailing thing, but I was quite happy to have received a few emails this week thanking us for the seeds.

Weekly blog update..

It’s been quite the eventful week for my blog as well. My first guest post ever was published this week on Mom Plus Business. I am super duper proud of this and never in a million years did I think that someone would actually want to feature my work on their blog! I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to have my post featured on Megwyn’s blog!

I actually enjoyed it so much, and it gave me confidence and courage to reach out to other bloggers for collabs and guest posts. I have two more guest posts lined up! One is about Chronic Overthinking, which would be featured on sans abri poetry and the other one is a book review of The Prophet – Khalil Gibran, which will feature on Bookish Fame. I’m so excited to be working on these posts and will update you when they’ve been published!

I’ve also received an email from Fatjoe Publsihing this week. They have a blogger outreach program and they approached me to be listed as a potential blog for linking their clients’ products and businesses. It’s a paid job so I gave up my details, and I’m hoping to receive a job soon.

I haven’t posted as many articles this week as I would’ve liked, because I’m so busy with different things. I’ve been working on writing and scheduling Blogtober posts as well, which is taking up most of my time for writing.

On Wednesday, I posted Mini-Relationships and Broken Hearts. Feel free to give it a read through and let me know your thoughts!

Pins of the week

My dauther and I have been invited to a Hats-and-Heels Party in October. I’m not really one for heels since I’ve gotten used to the comfort of sneakers.

So this week, I’ve been looking at shoes a lot on Pinterest to look for ideas on which type of shoes to buy for this affair. Here is a collection of shoes I loved.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and that you’ll have a wonderful, productive week! My Sunday Blues have eased off a little bit by writing this post, and I’m hopeful that it will have the same effect on you!
