Ah, good old Google. In today’s society we turn to Google for answers to any questions we may have. No need for dictionaries, encyclopedias and research material. I’ve wondered what would happen to modern society if Google had to crash permanently.. it would be a nightmare!
Most of my research for blog posts are done on Google
This gave me an idea and I started wondering about the most asked questions on Google. The internet is so full of articles, websites and blog posts that we usually have to filter through results for any answers we are looking for.
How cool would it be to find one straight answer for a question asked on Google? Even though this is unrealistic, I decided to do a post with answers to the most asked questions on Google. So, without further ado, here are the answers to the questions we all ask!
1. What is my IP? – Google Search
Any blogger would know that your statistics are calculated by using IP addresses from other internet users. I think a lot of us have looked at our stats wondering if these visits were not just done by ourselves – could people really be visiting our sites this much?
Your IP address is an unique string of numbers separated by full stops that identifies each computer using the Internet Protocol to communicate over a network.
If you want to know your own IP address, simply type “What is my IP” into Google search and your IP address will appear at the top of the search results. Easy peasy!
2. How to tie a tie
This one surprised me a little. It’s the 4th most asked question on Google and I honestly didn’t think it would be!! I know there are many different ways in which a tie could be tied, but here is the easiest and most used method. If you don’t know how to tie a tie yet, now is the perfect time to learn!
3. How to lose weight
Now let’s be honest about it for a second. There is no quick answer for weight loss! You know this, I know this and all ‘weight loss experts’ know this.
We find ourselves searching for new solutions every now and again, hoping for some miracle weight loss method. I’m also guilty of this and every time I hope someone has discovered an easier way to lose those unwanted pounds and maintain it. No matter WHAT Google tells you, this is the only answer to your question:
- Drink lots of water
- Control what you eat
- Eat lots of fruit and veg
If only it was as easy as it sounded! The truth hurts, but I guess I’ll have to start exercising some time soon.
4. When is Mothersday and Fathersday
I couldn’t help but chuckle when I saw this one! Although few of us will admit it, we never really remember Mothersday or Fathersday, even when we are parents ourselves!
As a quick reminder, Mothersday is on 12 May and Fathersday is on 16 June. By next year you’ll have forgotten again and you’ll just Google it again, but at least you know you’re pushing up the numbers of this frequently asked question!
5. How to make pancakes – Google search
I’m not very good at cooking and even worse at making pancakes! They usually come out all frumpy and generally never look like pancakes at all.
Here’s an easy pancake recipe from All Recipes for those of you who’ve Googled this before:
Thank you for taking the time out to read this post! Which one of these questions have you asked on Google? I would love to hear from you!
