10 Reasons Why Blogging is a Great Career Choice

For many people, work is work. As long as you’re able to make a little money and pay your bills, it doesn’t overly matter what you do. Sure, you want to be happy and like what you do (as well as the people you work with), but you don’t have to have a true passion for it. Now, this is something that can be okay – if you want it to be. But, if you want to find a job that you love, and build a career with passion, then you are definitely able to do that. Everyone can. Because we all have interests and passions – so there’s always going to be a job or career path out there for everyone. The only thing you need to do is find it.

This can sound complicated or like a really big job – but that’s not necessarily the case. Not in this day and age anyway. Because these days, there’s just so much potential out there for us all. Thanks to the internet, anything and everything is possible. You just have to think about what you love the most and then go after it. And this is where blogging comes in. It may be a new career choice for a lot of people, but it’s still something that people have been doing to earn money for years – maybe even decades. And for this reason, there are a lot of pluses as to why blogging is a career choice. Ten, in fact!

1. You can start it on the side

To start with, one of the very best benefits of blogging is that you can just start. You don’t have to earn a degree or get experience. There are no hurdles to jump or barriers to entry. You can just start a blog today and see where it takes you. So, think about setting it up – now – today. And start building your blog on the side of your current job. That way, you can get it to career level before you leave your job.

I started my blog on the side of my job, and I have worked very hard to monetize my blog. Within 6 months from starting my blog from scratch, I started making some money off my blog!

2. It’s fun!

It’s also fun. To come up with article ideas. To write. To share things on social media. There’s a reason why blogging is a hobby for a lot of people – it really is enjoyable! So why not pick a career that doesn’t feel like a job at all!

3. You learn a lot

It’s also a career that will teach you a lot too. Because there are lots of techie bits and pieces – from coding to social media – that you need to do to be successful. And you will naturally learn how to do what you need to do, just by blogging in the first place. So your skillset will grow.

4. You connect with others

Sometimes, blogging can be a lonely career. You’re essentially freelance and working on your own. But then, there are the times that you connect with others. You may hire other freelancers for certain jobs or to help you. And then, you also start to make friends with other bloggers, naturally, online – or because you choose to. And that can be a really great extra that comes out of blogging.

5. You can write about what you love

For a lot of people, the selling point is writing about things that they love. And it really is a good thing. Because if you’re passionate about cats or human rights or fashion or sports, you can start a blog on that set topic. Your niche options are endless!

6. You work with cool brands

And then a huge plus is that you get to work with great brands – eventually. As you start to build things up and look to make money from blogging, you will team up with brands you either respect or admire or both. And it’s such a great career accomplishment to be able to work with them.

7. You create your own products

Sometimes, it’s easy to believe that blogging is something you do online. That you write. And that’s it. But that’s really not the case. SO much work goes into blogging – digitally. There’s the marketing, the graphics – and then all of the behind the scenes business stuff like admin and finance too. So, you are building a business. And as with any business, you can launch products too. Yes, there are a plethora of products you can create and sell from your blog. So it’s not always about making money from the writing!

8. The earning potential is great

But not only that, the amount of money you are able to earn really is up to you. Sure, you have to work for it – and really work for it, but it’s there. Because there are a range of ways that you can make money blogging. So take a look at your options are get started with one or two – or maybe even all of them. Come up with a business plan that is going to allow you to start earning the money you want, and to turn this into a career you love.

9. It’s flexible

Another thing to really think about here, is the flexibility that you get. We’ve already covered off the benefit of control when it comes to what you earn, but this is very much the case with when and how you work too. So if you have a family or you’re doing family planning now but want one in the future, then it could be great for you. Even if you’re not thinking about starting a family any time soon, but you want to one day, then the flexible working hours are always a plus.

10. The possibilities are endless

The final plus involves the opportunities that come with blogging. They really are endless and absolutely within your control. But here, you need to make sure that you’re in the driver’s seat. But said opportunities are NOT going to be handed to you. You absolutely have to go after them. You need to know what you want, you have to work hard, and you have to get there. From launching a book to a clothing line, you can do it – but you have to work to get there.
